you're a silhouette in my dreams
just beyond grasp
i once knew a kid named Dwight. with arms long and tangly. a true
bohemian at heart. he told me once "the only way to live is to love,
because a life without love is terrible." he shot himself in the
face with his girlfriend watching a month later. i guess he didn't really
believe what he had said.
we can hold hands as we jump out of windows
i knew a girl named Anna. who claimed to have prophecies etched
onto her inner thigh. with words like venom, she'd accost strangers
on the street, trying to explain impossible. one night she was out
drinking, and on her way home got hit by a drunk driver. paralyzed
from the waist down, the prophecies on her thigh have been scratched out.
we can hold hands as we jump out of windows
i knew a girl once named Elise. a dreamer, with her head always in the
clouds. she had the talent too, if wishing to pursue, could go places
until one prom night, her luck ran dry. pregnant with baby she
tells the boyfriend and watched as he shot himself in the face. now
Elise takes care of an unwanted child alone.
we can hold hands as we jump out of windows
Together.

My choice early in life was either to be a piano-player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference.
